Battery life meter
A battery life meter is displayed only on the route summary screen, which is displayed after a route has been calculated. There is no battery life indicator displayed while the unit is in use. The Rider does not have an external battery charging light that would indicate whether the unit is actually accepting the charge when connected to 110V power.

The switch on/off

It is located on the right side of the GPS as part of the rubber grommet or "bumper" that forms the perimeter of the device. It may be difficult to use it with gloves.

Use with gloves

Some of the menu choices use large icons specifically design for a use wearing gloves. The more detailed screens, such as the data entry for choosing a "Navigate to" address, use small icons, inadequate to a use with gloves.

Subscription

With a TomTom Safety Camera subscription user can download the latest fixed safety camera databases in any supported country on his map.
The TomTom Safety Cameras service is currently available for Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Portugal and the United Kingdom.
User can even report new or out-of-date safety camera locations directly to the server quickly and easily, either from TomTom device (TomTom application version 6.0 or higher) or via the TomTom website.
The TomTom Safety Cameras service is not currently available in the United States or Canada.

Installation

To enable the TomTom rider to receive the speed camera updates, user have to follow the instructions
1.Connect TomTom to a computer
2.Start the TomTom Home software. If the software is not yet installed on PC, go to www.tomtom.com
3.Click on quotActivate TomTom promotionquot and enter the quotproduct codequot revealed under the scratch off surface of the card.
The TomTom Home website will then activate and install the speed camera data on to the user hardware.
User have to check for updates regularly throughout his annual subscription period to ensure his TomTom has the latest speed camera information.

The SD flash memory must be installed in a slot in the bottom of the unit prior to first use. User have to make sure the door that covers the SD memory (and the USB and charging connectors) is closed and locked.  The Rider will work even if the door is left open, and although there is a chance that the SD flash memory could come out of the unit or that moisture could intrude.
